What a cookie is
A small file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise the same browser later. Some are needed for a site to work at all — remembering that you are signed in, for instance. Others exist to count visitors or to follow them between sites, and under UK law those need your permission first.
What this site sets
The table below lists every cookie this site can set, what each is for and how long it lasts. Anything marked as analytics is only set after you have accepted it, and refusing leaves the site working exactly as it does now.

Every cookie this site may set, with its current state beside it. Anything marked as analytics is only set once you have accepted it.
Two things have to be true before any of this happens: you have to accept, and analytics has to be switched on at our end. If it is not, accepting sets nothing — you will simply not be counted, and the site works exactly as it does now either way.

The spam check on the enquiry formis provided by Cloudflare’s Turnstile. It runs in a frame served by Cloudflare rather than by us, and anything it stores is stored against Cloudflare’s own domain, not this one — which is why it does not appear above. We loaded the form with the check running and found that it sets nothing on our domain.
Changing your choice
Your answer is remembered in your browser’s local storage, under the key cookie_consent— not in a cookie, which would be a slightly absurd way to record that you do not want cookies. Clearing your browser’s site data for this site forgets it and you will be asked again.
No choice is recorded on this browser. You can make one whenever you like.
You can also refuse or delete cookies through your browser’s own settings, for this site and every other. That is a blunter instrument and it is entirely yours to use.
Elsewhere in the product
A funeral director signing in to their dashboard, and a family opening the link their director sent, are both using parts of the product that need to remember who is who — so those pages do set a cookie, and it is strictly necessary for them to work at all. Neither carries analytics or advertising of any kind, and no third party is measuring a bereaved family.
